Commissioning is one of the most important tasks in construction, yet it is consistently overlooked when new facilities are built, or retrofit projects are undertaken.

Our perspective on how we approach Commissioning:

  • It is our responsibility to assist our customer in defining their goals
  • We must become our customer’s eyes and ears in achieving their goals
  • We must become a facilitator in implementing a quality focused project on behalf of our customer
  • We will identify potential problems, become the facilitator to resolve these conflicts, and aid in their resolution
  • We are not inspectors of others work, rather we are an independent arm of our customer who can oversee the projects and ensure that they are completed to scope and specification
  • We will maintain our integrity and honesty on behalf of our customers, while being fair to all parties involved

SUBSYSTEM COMMISSIONING - RETROFIT AND NEW SYSTEMS

Energy Solutions Group, and it's companies, have commissioned over 1000 sites across the nation.

Our experience has shown that over 40% of the commissioned sites required follow-up by the contractor that had done the work, to correct problems or to complete the job. It is imperative, whether new or retrofit projects are undertaken, that an independent commissioning authority be involved from the beginning of these projects through their completion.

Commissioning is a critical construction task for our national account customers. With many locations, and large facilities, they need to ensure that their projects have been completed to their design specifications. Typically, when a retrofit project is large in scope, the project is not designed by an engineering firm. Rather, it is assembled by electrical contractors with a vague understanding of the project’s entire scope. In addition, national account customers typically have regional directors who have multiple locations in their territory. This multi-site responsibility, combined with incomplete scope documents, makes it a challenge to have verifiable, complete projects.

Multi-site and/or multi-state projects are ideal candidates for having a commissioning authority help to ensure that the work is being performed to scope and specification.
